Blues on the Marsh
Radio Show
WELCOME
Let me extend a very warm Marsh welcome to each and every one of you . I decided it was about time to incorporate a website in the show so here it is . Lots of work in progress so please bear with me for the moment.
I guess it's best to start at the beginning .
I'm Kevin Beale , commonly known to my listeners as The MarshMan, amongst other names ,and am the sole presenter/ producer / teaboy of the Award nominated Blues On The Marsh radio show broadcasting live every Friday evening at 7pm GMT on www.channelradio.co.uk
I started presenting the show about 5 years ago in what started out as a bet with a good pal of mine , Dave Wimble . He ran what was then Romney Marsh FM and was looking for people to train as presenters . He asked me if I was interested and to add one of his sayings " How hard can it be ". So I took up the challenge , much to his dismay !!!!
The station has changed names and locations a few times in the past 5 years and I think I am one of the only originals left .The show has garnered a great following culminating in a nomination as Best Independent British Blues Broadcaster in the British Blues Awards of last year. Sadly I didn't win but came a credible 4th !
In July 2013 the station, show and myself were inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in the USA , an honour I am really quite chuffed about .
My musical background is really quite diverse , basically I'll listen to and appreciate all good music whatever the genre . I started off back in the 60s listen to mum and dad's music , early 70s i saw my first live band ( 10cc 1973?? ) and then found the joys of Caroline under the bed sheets . That saw the start of my Rock / Prog Rock era and the venturing off into the wild unknown of Festivals !! However all through this period I just got really interested in the Blues and the passion just grew and grew as did the record collection .
Through the show I have been blessed with seeing some amazing artists over here and hopefully one day will get the chance to venture to the US. Not only have I seen them performing but many have become very close friends . The Blues community as a whole is a sure fine, friendly place .
Anyway enough of my drivel and self indulgence
SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE RIDE !!!!
